In late 2023 I was inspired to build a panoramic pinhole camera, after a season where photographic inspiration was at an all time low. After making the camera and doing some initial tests I embarked on a fresh project, which I called “100 prayers”. The idea was to spend the long exposure time praying. In doing so I was joining two areas of my life which I had in the past kept separate. In doing this I felt I was welcoming God into my creative process. I talk more about this in my Substack if that interests you please visit my Substack page here.

100 prayers continued right through 2024 and in late 2024 I made a wooden pinhole camera with a 16:9 aspect ratio (the same ratio as modern social media reels and stories) and this is the camera I am working with now. I am finding the switch from panoramic to tall portrait proportion quite challenging.

16:9 wooden pinhole camera

I made this wooden box pinhole camera in 2025. like the panoramic camera I had to make cut film holders. This time I was inspired to make the preportions 16:9 the same as reels and stories on social media platforms. See images from this camers Here

100 Prayers

This is a project I started in early 2024, It is an atempt to capture prayers in a photograph. The Idea was to spend the long exposure time of the pinhole camera to be still and pray.
